Marble polishing & restoration

What is the difference between marble polishing and marble restoration?

Polishing refines the finish of a marble surface that is generally sound. Restoration is broader and can include deep cleaning and addressing etching or scratches before the finish is brought up.

Can etch marks be removed from marble?

Light etch marks often respond well to refinishing. Deeper or widespread etching can usually be improved, though how close the result comes to new depends on the stone and the extent of wear.

Will my marble look brand new after restoration?

Many surfaces improve dramatically, but natural stone carries its history. Deep scratches, chips, cracks, and some stains may remain faintly visible. We discuss realistic results before any work.

Should my marble be polished or honed?

Polished marble is reflective and formal; honed marble is matte and hides etching more easily. Kitchens, bathrooms, and entries often benefit from a honed or satin finish for practicality and slip resistance.

Does polishing make marble slippery?

Highly polished stone can be slippery when wet. In wet areas or entrances, a lower-sheen finish is often the safer choice.

Granite & natural stone care

Does granite need to be sealed?

It depends on the granite. Dense varieties may barely absorb liquid, while lighter or more porous ones benefit from sealing. A few drops of water left for several minutes will show whether the stone is absorbing.

What cleaners are safe for marble and granite?

Use pH-neutral cleaners made for natural stone. Avoid vinegar, lemon, bleach, ammonia-heavy products, and abrasive powders, which can etch or dull stone over time.

Is sealing the same as polishing?

No. Sealing reduces absorption of liquids into the stone; polishing changes how smooth and reflective the surface is. A sealer does not prevent etching on marble.

How do I know what stone I have?

Stone is often misidentified. Marble, limestone, quartzite, and engineered quartz can look similar. We help identify the material during an assessment.

Custom stone & fabrication

Can I choose the slab for a custom piece?

Slab selection, or at least approving the section used, is part of good custom work. How slab selection fits into your project is discussed during planning.

Is installation included with custom fabrication?

It depends on the project and the building. What is included in your project is confirmed during the quote process rather than assumed.

Are marble sinks practical for daily use?

They can be, with the right expectations. Marble will etch and develop patina over time. Granite or quartzite offer more resistance if you prefer a surface that changes less.

Quotes & scheduling

How do I request a quote?

Use our quote request form, email us, or call. Include the stone type if known, the surface and approximate size, your goals, and your general location.

Do you provide prices online?

No. Stone work depends heavily on the material, its condition, size, and access, so scope and pricing are discussed after we understand the project.

Do you work in apartments and co-ops?

Yes, we discuss residential projects in apartments, co-ops, and condos. Building requirements, such as insurance documentation and permitted work hours, are part of planning.

Do you work with commercial properties?

We discuss commercial stone projects including lobbies, retail spaces, and common areas, planned around access, safety, and operating hours.
